Why hoodie from yesterday to today?

The hoodie style known as the hoodie has a deep history, although it has emerged as one of the main elements of my American clothing. It is a clothing style used all over the world today, produced in many different styles and appealing to a wide audience. In general, hooded, zippered or non-zipped models are produced.

The hoodie was a style designed by American clothing brand Champion to keep workers and athletes warm before or after training. This description is quoted as the production of the modern hoodie in the 1930s. But the hooded clothing style dates back to Medieval Europe. Many people, especially priests, wore hooded cloaks and tunics during this period. This clothing style, which can be considered as a hooded sweatshirt today with its modern style and cut, started to be popular among university students, especially in the USA, in the 1950s and 1960s.

With the 70's and 80's, hoodie sweatshirts were a style that hip-hop ensembles, graffiti artists and breakdancers started to wear widely in New York. In the '90s, rappers like Wu Tang Clan started wearing the hoodie to signal authenticity and resistance. These uses unfortunately gave birth to a negative view of the hoodie after a while. Because the hoodie was also beginning to resemble fear. Because a hooded style was also reminiscent of groups linked to death and racism, such as the Ku Klux Klan. He would say that in 2012, George Zimmerman killed a teenager named Trayvon Martin because he thought he was a threat because of his dark hoodie. After the event, millions of Martin's supporters organized marches and turned this stigma into a political statement against racial injustice and violence.

Used in many different ways in the past, hoodies that have survived through various processes with different expressions, are today an indispensable part of sportswear and casual wear. Today, hooded sweatshirts are in the closet of everyone who expresses themselves in sportswear style, casual clothing style or urban clothing style. In addition, the hoodie is one of the important products of fashion and the street, which has at least one in the closet of almost everyone who wants to achieve an original style or to protect themselves from the rain with the simplest use.
